Russell Higgins, MSW, LISW, RPT
Licensed Independent Social Worker
Mr. Russell Higgins received his B.S. in Social Work from Quincy University, located in Quincy, Illinois. He went on to earn his Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Higgins is a licensed independent social worker and has had twenty years of professional experience as a social worker and therapist, with fifteen years of post-Master’s clinical experience in direct service delivery, private mental health therapy practice, and supervisory positions. His expertise includes hospice, home health care, long-term care, private practice of individual and family therapy, and behavioral/mental health.
From 2004 to 2011 Mr. Higgins worked a Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, New Mexico as a Clinical Social Worker. While there, he provided individual counseling to terminally ill clients and their family members, as well as education and clinical counseling in the area of death, dying, and bereavement. He is currently in private practice in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults conducting behavioral health assessments and treatment plans. He is a member several professional organizations, including the National Association of Social Workers, National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, and New Mexico Association for Play Therapy.
