Dr. Kim A Meyer, Ph.D.
Dr. Kim Meyer graduated from Mankato State University in Minnesota with a B.S. in Psychology, along with his Chemical Dependency Counselor Certificate. He stayed at Mankato State to get his M.A. in Psychology, then went on to earn a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a Behavioral Dual Specialty at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu. Throughout Dr. Meyer’s career he has been an instructor, lecturer and assistant professor at various accredited universities. He taught in the field of psychology at Mankato State University in Minnesota, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the University of Guam in Mangilao, and East Carolina University. Dr. Meyer has also presented and published extensively in the fields of behavioral psychology and behavioral analysis.
Dr. Meyer also has extensive clinical experience. He worked at the Hawaii State Hospital for many years and was the Director of Psychosocial Rehabilitation there from 2003-2008. From 2009-2012, he served as the Director of Research in Behaviour Supports at the University of Queensland in Australia. In that role he conducted research, provided training and supervision, developed national and international collaborations with university faculty and provider organizations, and provided consultation, assessment and treatment for adults diagnosed with autism. In 2013, Dr. Meyer served as the President of the New Mexico Association for Behavior Analysis. In addition to working with Southwest Cares he is self-employed as a Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. In his private practice, Dr. Meyer provides consultation, supervision, assessment and treatment for children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
