Dr. Celinda Levy, Ph.D., MBA
Psychologist, Las Cruces Regional Director
Dr. Celinda Levy received her degree in Clinical and Community Psychology from Boston University. She completed her internship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her early career in Boston focused on the geriatric population. Her dissertation research, conducted in nursing homes, examined the use of psychological testing to differentiate the dementia which can accompany depression in the elderly from other nonreversible dementias. She implemented a multidisciplinary-focused geropsych unit in a community hospital in Boston. The program was linked with a psychological consulting practice that specialized in providing psychological services to patients in nursing facilities in Boston and surrounding communities.
Dr. Levy also obtained her MBA at Boston University. Her career has included behavioral health, healthcare management, and quality improvement. She moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in the early 90s. She worked in
Las Cruces and towns in southern and eastern New Mexico, providing clinical services in primary care settings and directing a number of community-based behavioral health programs. She also taught at New Mexico State University and worked on border health issues. Dr. Levy then moved to Albuquerque and served as The Director of Quality Improvement at New Mexico Medical Review Association. In addition, she was the Hospital Administrator at Turquoise Lodge, a New Mexico Department of Health hospital specializing in the treatment of substance abuse, and her last administrative job was the Director of Care Management at University of New Mexico Hospital.
Dr. Levy joined Southwest Cares in 2008 to draw together her career experiences in clinical and organizational settings and focus once again in providing psychological services in nursing and assisted living facilities. For a number of years, she worked in facilities in Albuquerque, Grants, Farmington and Clovis. She now lives in Las Cruces and serves as Southwest Cares’ Las Cruces Regional Director in addition to her clinical work with patients.
